5. Adaptive posture

The post-hoc forensic layer maintains, per subject, an order-typed behavioral-posture state that adjusts scrutiny over time in response to forensic findings and their causal attributions.

Order-typed posture state. The posture state is tagged by order and policy class — not a single scalar score. A posture state that expresses scrutiny as a single undifferentiated value does not satisfy this requirement.

Recomputable transition. Each update of the posture state is a transition that is recomputable: an independent inspector re-derives the new posture state from (a) the prior posture state, (b) the triggering forensic finding, and (c) the finding’s causal attribution, against retained recomputation witnesses satisfying the §02a §5a.2 multi-stage witness chain structural requirements. A transition that cannot be re-derived from these three inputs, or whose witnesses do not satisfy the §02a §5a.2 requirements, is structurally incomplete.

Attribution-binding. Each transition is bound to the causal attribution of the triggering finding. The posture change carries its evidenced reason: the answer to “why did scrutiny change?” is the bound attribution, not an opaque score update.

Recomputable decay and cascade. The decay of the posture state toward neutral over time, and the cross-policy cascade adjusting scrutiny thresholds in related order classes, are themselves recomputable. The forgiveness curve and the cross-policy threshold adjustments are re-derivable from the retained witnesses. Opaque decay and cascade functions do not satisfy this requirement.

Transition functions as recited members. The transition may be computed by any function — logistic tightening on repeated attributed violations, decay toward neutral in the absence of attributed violations, cross-policy cascade lowering scrutiny thresholds in related order classes, or any other transition function. No particular transition function is specified here; the requirement is the recomputability and attribution-binding of whichever function is used, not the function itself.

Joint inseparability of recomputability and attribution-binding. Recomputable transitions and attribution-binding are jointly required and are not separable components of the adaptive posture. A posture state whose transitions are recomputable but not bound to a causal attribution is not an adaptive posture under this section — it is an adaptive score. A posture state whose transitions are bound to a causal attribution but not recomputable against retained witnesses is not an adaptive posture under this section — it is an attributed label. Only the conjunction of both properties constitutes an adaptive posture state under this layer. An implementation that claims to implement adaptive posture while omitting either property is structurally incomplete and does not satisfy the composition interface of §9.

Hand-off. The order-typed posture state is a governance artifact consumed by downstream processes — including the pre-invocation signal registry (§02e §3) as a posture signal for subsequent admission evaluations. The present layer maintains the recomputable state; downstream consumers consume it by reference.
