8. Non-AIGP sources — minimum conformance requirements

A pre-invocation signal source that is not AIGP may register and produce battery inputs under §3 provided it satisfies the registration requirements (§3) and the signal typing requirements (§4). The source does not need to implement the AIGP specification.

The structural difference between AIGP and non-AIGP sources is witness class, not admissibility. AIGP is W1-capable: when it emits the Order-Typed Recomputation Witness Profile (the “Mars W1 Profile”; see AIGP specification/extensions/mars-w1-witness-profile.md), its signals carry order-typed derivation traces that an independent inspector can re-derive, and those links extend the end-to-end recomputability of the chain through the pre-invocation phase. Where AIGP does not emit the profile for a given signal — for example a heuristic or human-graded evaluation, or a signed decision without a derivation trace — that signal is a W2 or W3 link, exactly like any other source. Witness class is determined per signal by the witness record, never by the AIGP brand. A non-AIGP source that cannot produce a W1 witness registers as W2 or W3; its signals are admitted as battery inputs with the corresponding chain-integration properties declared. This difference is visible to downstream consumers through the witness-class annotation on the pre-invocation chain links — it is not hidden or papered over.

A non-AIGP source may not claim W1 witness class unless its witness record satisfies the full recomputation-witness requirement: an independent inspector must be able to re-derive the signal value from the order-typed input and the governing-specification version without executing the original system. This is a structural test, not a source-identity test. A non-AIGP system that satisfies it may register as W1. An AIGP-branded system whose witness record does not satisfy it may not.
